Rebels Take a Point in Houston

UNLV draws, 1-1, with Houston Christian Friday night

HOUSTON (UNLVRebels.com) — UNLV and Houston Christian played to a 1-1 draw Friday night at Sorrels Field.

The Rebels' last-second corner kick rolled inches shy of the goal line, a final rebuff after nine minutes of attacks to close the contest.

Skyler Goo scored his second goal of the season in the 20th minute, sending Frankie Martinez's centering pass into the net from the left corner of the goal area.

UNLV (1-4-6 overall, 0-1-2 WAC) held off every HCU (5-3-4, 1-0-2) advance through the next 62 minutes before a handball gave the Huskies a second penalty kick. Bryant Farkalun scored the equalizer.

Andrew Sway and the Rebel defense suffocated 21 HCU shots—15 over the final 45 minutes. Sway stoned Ethan Giwa-McNeil's 67th-minute penalty kick as part of five saves.

UNLV next visits the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas, Sunday at 10 a.m. PT/12 p.m. local. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and WAC International TV.
