EDINBURG, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) — A second-half stalemate spoiled the Rebels' rally chances as UNLV fell 2-1 at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Sunday afternoon.
UTRGV (3-5-3 overall, 1-2-1 WAC) earned its first Western Athletic Conference win of the season as it held UNLV (1-5-6, 0-2-2) to just one shot over the final 45 minutes.
UTRGV took a 2-0 lead after Yusuf Cueceoglu (10') and Moiad Ankir (35') weaved between the Rebels' defense to sneak in goals from the inside right channel.

Jonah Craig intercepted a pass and placed a shot into the upper right of the net in the 43rd minute. It was Craig's first collegiate goal.
The Rebels are back home at Peter Johann Memorial Field Friday, Oct. 14, versus San Jose State. UNLV will remember its former head coach, the late Vince Hart. The UNLV Soccer Federation will also host a tailgate for all fans with free food and drinks provided by Tenaya Brewery.
