MINNEAPOLIS (UNLVRebels.com) – A top-5 finish in the men's 200 medley relay paced the UNLV men's and women's swimming teams on Wednesday's opening session of the Minnesota Invitational at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatics Center.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
*In a 200 medley relay that saw Cal (1:22.84) take first with an NCAA 'A' cut, the Rebels reached the wall just four spots back in fifth place. The Scarlet & Gray quartet - consisting of senior
Panos Bolanos, sophomore
Adnan Beji, junior
George Ratiu and super senior
Reece Hemmens as the anchor - swam the fourth fastest time in school history with a mark of 1:25.41.
*The Scarlet & Gray men's 800 free relay squad (
Dominik Bujak, Kris Matuszewski,
Steven Butler, Charley Page-Jones) rounded out the day's events, placing 13th overall (6:40.44).
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
*In the women's 800 free relay, UNLV's 'A' team of freshman Marta Klimek, super seniors
Teneka Ash and
Gabby Lizzul, and freshman Hannah Jones finished 14th overall (7:31.58).
