STILLWATER, Okla. (UNLVRebels.com) — Short-handed UNLV fell to Oklahoma State 87-62 Sunday afternoon at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Kenadee Winfrey scored a career-high 13 points to lead UNLV.
Essence Booker and
Kiara Jackson had 10 points apiece.
The Lady Rebels sat out power forwards
Nneka Obiazor and
Alyssa Brown for precautionary reasons due to knee injuries. They are considered day-to-day. The duo combined for a season average of 21.1 points and 13.1 rebounds.
UNLV struggled on long-range shots, hitting just one of 13 3-point attempts, as they were outshot 50 percent to 24 percent from the field in the first half.
Oklahoma State led 41-20 at halftime.
The Lady Rebels found their offensive rhythm after intermission but couldn't make a dent in the margin.
Booker took a charge from Terryn Milton, forcing the Cowgirls' leading scorer to the bench with 5 ½ remaining in the third period.
UNLV held OSU's leading scorer Naomie Alnatas to 1 point. Alnatas entered the game scoring 14.9 points per game. Villanova transfer Lior Garzon made up for the loss of production. The forward scored 11 straight points, hitting three 3-pointers, to close the third period.
Garzon finished 8-of-11 from the field for a game-high 20 points. Milton scored 16.
Oklahoma State shot 16-of-18 (89 percent) from the free-throw line. They entered the contest shooting 64 percent.
UNLV returns home for the first time in December to wrap its non-conference schedule Wednesday versus Northern Arizona. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m. at the Cox Pavilion.
