LIHU'E, HAWAI'I (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team wrapped up the first day of the 45th John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Lihu'e, Kaua'i Thursday, shooting a 2-over (290) as a team to sit tied for 10th. Freshman Aaron Jarvis was the top Rebel performer, carding a 2-under 70 to tie for 17th after the opening round at Ocean Course Hokuala (par 72, 7,156 yards).  

Senior J.J. Gresco and sophomore Caden Fioroni each shot a 1-over 73 to tie for 44th heading into Friday's second round, while freshman Tommy Kimmel came in one shot behind them to sit tied for 52nd at 2-over 74. Seniors Jack Kozlowski, competing as an individual, and David Raunch carded a 3-over 75 and 5-over 77, respectively.  

Arizona turned in the top team round of the day - a 13-under 275 - to hold a six-shot lead over second-place Fresno State and New Mexico at 7-under 281. Utah ended the day in fourth at 6-under 282 followed by USC in fifth at 5-under 283. California's Simon Kwon, an individual competitor, is atop the leaderboard at 7-under with teammate Aaron Du and USC's Shane Ffrench on his heels at 6-under. Four players - New Mexico's Carson Herron, Texas A&M's Daniel Rodriguez and Arizona's Chase Sienkiewicz and Johnny Walker - are tied for fourth at 5-under.
