Runnin' Rebels Win At UNR 62-54, Secure Silver State Sweep

UNLV wins third straight game as senior guard Bryce Hamilton led all scorers with 27 points Tuesday night in Reno.

RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team won at UNR 62-54 Tuesday night for its third straight win and first regular-season sweep over the Wolf Pack since the 2012-13 season.

Senior guard Bryce Hamilton led all scorers with 27 points, also grabbing eight rebounds with three assists for the Runnin' Rebels (17-11, 9-6). Royce Hamm Jr. collected a game-high 12 rebounds, and Jordan McCabe dished out seven assists with only two turnovers. 

UNR (12-14, 6-9) was led by Grant Sherfield's 19 points and eight assists. Warren Washington had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

THE TURNING POINT: In a game that featured nine lead changes and five ties, UNLV turned a three-point lead into 13 with a 10-0 run, taking a 60-47 advantage with 3:30 to play.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV held UNR to just 16.7% on 3-pointers (3 of 18).

NOTES:
- It was UNLV's sixth win in its last eight outings.
- The game was part of the Silver State Series, presented by IBEW and Nevada Donor Network. With the regular-season sweep of the Wolf Pack, UNLV has earned three points in the SSS this year in men's basketball.
- UNLV improved its all-time series lead against UNR to 62-33 and is now 28-20 all-time at UNR. It also snapped a four-game losing streak for UNLV against UNR in Reno.
- It was the third regular-season sweep of an opponent for UNLV this season. The others: Colorado State and San Jose State.
- Hamilton scored 19 of his points in the second half.
- UNLV out-rebounded UNR 41-34, improving to 16-0 this season when out-rebounding its opponent.
- UNLV also improved to 12-0 when holding its opponent to less than 60 points.
- UNLV had 13 offensive rebounds, out-scoring UNR in second-chance points 16-9.
- UNLV's bench out-scored UNR's 20-5.
- UNLV trailed at halftime, 26-23.
- UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,157 straight games.
