LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team dropped a match at home for the first time this season, 5-2, to Cal Poly on a cold Wednesday that even saw a few snowflakes fall at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels fell to 4-4 while the Mustangs improved to 6-1.
Things looked bright for the hosts after doubles play as UNLV won the first two completed matches to forge a 1-0 lead.
In singles, however, half of the matches went to three sets but the Mustangs took all of them, including at the top spot where Noah Berry upset No. 48 Christopher Bulus, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Zach Garner teamed with Bulus to win his doubles match, 6-1, at No. 3, and then breezed by Bastiaan Weststrate on court five, 6-1, 6-4.
UP NEXT: UNLV returns to the road with a match at Santa Clara on Saturday at 11 a.m.
