SANTA CLARA, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team lost a heartbreaker on the road Saturday as host Santa Clara escaped with a 4-3 win at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Rebels lost their fifth straight to fall to 4-5 while the Broncos improved to 3-4.
UNLV won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead.
In singles, UNLV got wins from the bottom two spots in the lineup and actually led 3-2 before Zac Brodney fell in three sets on court three and 31st-ranked Christoper Bulus was upset in a tense, 7-6, 4-6, 7-5, final at the top of the lineup.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Zach Garner teamed with Bulus to win his doubles match, 6-1, at No. 3, and then swept Nick Cmager at the fifth spot, 6-4, 6-2.
UP NEXT: UNLV continues its trip to the Bay Area with a match at Cal on Monday slated for 1 p.m.
