Rebels Hit The Road To New Mexico

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team will continue conference play with a three-game series against New Mexico held at Santa Ana Star Field in Albuquerque, New Mexico, beginning Friday with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. (MST). 

The Rebels (16-9, 8-1 MW) are coming into this weekend's contest 3-1 after taking the series over San Jose State (2-1) last weekend and defeating Arizona State (11-10) Tuesday evening at the Las Vegas Ballpark. The Lobos (12-13, 5-4 MW) are also coming into this weekend's series 3-1, taking the series win over Air Force (2-1) and defeating New Mexico State (19-2, 7 inn.) Tuesday evening in Las Cruces, New Mexico. 

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING 
UNLV and New Mexico have squared off a total of 179 times with the first meeting taking place in 1978 in Las Vegas. The Rebels own a 13-game lead in the all-time head-to-head series, notching 96 wins to 83 losses. The Scarlet & Gray swept the last series played between both programs in 2021 (24-7, 8-5, 1-0 11 inn.).

BACK AT THE EARL
The Rebels will return to Las Vegas and Earl E. Wilson Stadium for a single-game, nonconference contest against UC Riverside Tuesday, April 5. 

UNLV will play back-to-back home games April 5-24 with series against UNR, San Jose State, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico and a single-game contest against Dixie State April 12. 

REBELS CLAIM WEEKLY AWARD
- Gianni Horvat received the first weekly award for the Rebels, being named the MW Freshman of the Week following the Rebels' perfect weekend on the road (3-0) in San Diego February 28. 
Edarian Williams continued the weekly honors streak, earning MW Player of the Week, March 7.
- Conner Woods claimed pitcher of the week, March 14 after he picked up his first win of the season in a 4-3 victory over SDSU. 
Santino Panaro claimed Freshman of the Week, March 14, after having a season high two RBI for the Rebels. Panaro also claimed the Freshman weekly honors, March 28, after helping the Rebels to a 3-1 week, including a series win over MW foes San Jose State. 
- Braden Murphy earned Freshman of the Week weekly honors after helping the Rebels to a sweep over Air Force, March 21. 
- Diego Alarcon earned Player of the Week weekly honors today after helping the Rebels to a 3-1 week, including a series win over MW foes San Jose State. 

LEADERS IN THE MW AND THE NATION
- UNLV currently stands atop the conference with an 8-1 conference record.
- The Rebels currently lead the conference in batting with a .317 average, 208 runs scored, 292 hits and 189 RBI. 
Rylan Charles ranks 13th in the nation and is tied for first in the MW for hits with 40, leads the conference in sacrifice flies with 4 and in at bats (111), is eighth for batting average (.360), third in doubles (11), tied for seventh for runs scored (23) and tied for fifth for RBI (23).
- Kryszczuk ranks seventh nationally and second in the MW for doubles (13) and sits fifth for at bats (100).
- Henry Ziesler leads the MW in on-base percentage (0.518), sits second in batting average (.402), slugging percentage (.678) and OPS (1.196), tied for first in triples (3), fifth in RBI (23) and tied for fifth in hits (35). 
- Joey Walls sits third for batting average (.400), slugging percentage (.675) and in OPS (1.154) and sixth in doubles (8).
- Diego Alarcon leads the MW in runs scored (30), tied for second in at bats (106), tied for fifth in doubles (9) and sits ninth in hits (34). 
Edarian Williams leads the conference in walks (19), is tied for first in the MW for triples (3), sits second for RBI (26), tied for third in doubles (6), sits fifth for hits (38) and ranks seventh in batting average (.367).

PURCHASE TICKETS
Single-game ticket prices this season are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, faculty and staff, and $5 to groups of 15 or more. Fans that purchase tickets online before game day can get them for an advanced single-game price of $6. 

All high school, middle school and elementary students are free under UNLV's new admission policy. To receive free admission, high school students must present valid Nevada are school I.D. at the box office on gameday for one (1) complimentary ticket. Current UNLV students will receive free admission with a valid school I.D. All other students will receive a complimentary ticket at the box office (no I.D. required). Kids not yet elementary school age will continue to receive free admission for all UNLV Olympic sports.
