BREMERTON, Wash. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's golf team opened the 2022 Mountain West Championship Friday in Bremerton, finishing the first round in a tie for sixth after shooting 5-over as a team on the Olympic Course (Par 72, 7,115 yards)
at Gold Mountain Golf Club.
Sophomore
Caden Fioroni was the top Rebel performer of the day, carding a 1-under 71 to sit tied for 11th through 18 holes. Senior
David Rauch and junior
George Leigh each shot a 1-over 73 to sit tied for 20th, followed by freshman
Aaron Jarvis in a tie for 40th at 4-over and sophomore
Ben Sawaia in a tie for 51st at 10-over.
Colorado State grabbed the team lead after an 8-under in round one, holding onto a two-shot lead over second place Boise State at 6-under. San Diego State sits in third at 5-under, followed by UNR in fourth at even, Wyoming in fifth at 2-over and the Rebels tied with Utah State and Fresno State in sixth. CSU's Connor Jones and UNR's Trey Davis each shot a 5-under 67 to co-lead the individual field after day one with Wyoming's Jimmy Dales and Boise State's Skyler Eubank are tied for third at 3-under.
