LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Trailing 3-0 in the deciding set,
Milos Dabic roared back to win six of the next seven games to take his match and give the UNLV men's tennis team a thrilling 4-3 victory over San Diego State on a hot Friday afternoon and then beautiful early evening at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 12-11 overall and 1-2 in the league while the Aztecs fell to 5-9 and 1-1.
SDSU won a hotly contested doubles point by taking two of three matches and earning a 1-0 lead.
In singles, UNLV rallied after falling behind 2-0 to take a 3-2 lead with straight-set wins from
Christopher Bulus,
Jordan Sauer and
Zach Garner. After the Aztecs took the next point, all eyes moved to court four where Dabic and Aztec Alexander Mandma played a marathon three-setter forced when Dabic won a second-set tiebreaker. Dabic, finishing under the lights in the four-hour match, ultimately grinded out a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory.
NEXT UP: The Rebels will host New Mexico on Thursday starting with doubles play at noon. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
