STANFORD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team opened play at the NCAA Stanford Regional Monday, shooting at 26-over to sit in 11th after the first round at Stanford Golf Course (Par 71 6,267 yards). Freshman
Kendall Todd was the top Rebel performer on the day, shooting a 4-over 75 to sit tied for 38th.
The three seed LSU ended day one with the lead at 5-under 279, holding onto a one-stroke lead over second-place USC. Host and top-ranked Stanford sits in third at 1-under, followed by Purdue in fourth at 1-over. Northwestern and Iowa State are tied for fifth at 3-over. LSU's Latanna Stone is atop the leaderboard after her 4-under 67 in round one with Iowa State's Ruby Chou close behind in second at 3-under. Five are tied for third at 2-under.

Veronica Joels shot a 5-over 76 to sit tied for 46th, followed by freshman
Toa Yokoyama in a tie for 57th at 8-over 79. Junior
Nicole Lorup came in one shot behind Yokoyama in a tie for 59th at 9-over 80 and freshman
Hina Matsui rounded it out for the Rebels in a tie for 61st at 10-over.
Stanford is one of six regional sites in 2022. The top four teams and top two individuals (not on an advancing team) will advance from each regional site to the championships, which will be held for the second straight year at Grayhawk Golf Club (Raptor Course) in Scottsdale, Arizona, from May 20-25.
