Ethridge Seizes Player Of The Week

Senior guard averaged 21 points in UNLV's two road wins

SAN JOSE, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) — UNLV senior guard Justice Ethridge was selected the Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

It's Ethridge's first career player of the week award.

Ethridge averaged 21.0 points and 64 percent 3-point shooting in the Lady Rebels' victories last week at Fresno State and San Diego State.

Ethridge scored 20-plus points in back-to-back games for the first time in her career.

In UNLV's 64-49 win at Fresno State, Ethridge scored 20 points on 4-for-5 3-point field goal shooting. The Las Vegas native was perfect from the field in the second period as she hit three consecutive 3-pointers to shake off UNLV's 0-for-9 field goal drought and take a lead it would not relinquish.

The senior matched a career-high 22 points to lead UNLV to a 78-70 win over SDSU. Ethridge totaled eight points and had one assist, one steals and one offensive rebound that all led to scores to help UNLV swing a 19-10 deficit into a 34-30 halftime lead. She finished the game with a 5-for-5 free-throw shooting performance as the Lady Rebels held off the Aztecs in a battle for first place in the Mountain West standings.

UNLV has started conference play 4-0 for the first time since 2003-04.

Ethridge and the Lady Rebels finish their three-game swing in California with a visit to San Jose State on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
