LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's soccer played to the final whistle in search of a comeback, but came up short in a 1-0 defeat to Boise State in Sunday afternoon's Senior Day match at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
In the second half, the Rebels (6-7-6, 2-5-3) fought with the Broncos (10-2-6, 8-1-1) on the attack to finish an even 8-8 in total shots during the final 45 minutes in their late push that ultimately couldn't overcome an early one-goal deficit.
In one of their best scoring opportunities, freshman
Cassie Villanueva gained possession of the ball and dribbled into the box between a pair of BSU defenders to fire a shot that only was stopped by the right post in the 62nd minute.
UP NEXT: The Rebels conclude the regular season with a trip up north to face in-state rival UNR on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT.
