Rebels Achieve Season Sweep Against Air Force

After falling early, the Rebels won three-straight sets to take down the Falcons for the second time this season on a 3-1 score.

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The UNLV volleyball team took the road for their first of two games on the road this week, traveling out to Air Force to visit the Falcons in Colorado. After the Falcons took over the first set, the Rebels dominated the attack on the second set and continued to roll the momentum into their 3-1 victory.
 
UNLV picked up their win on Thursday night by scores of 20-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-22. The Rebels performed a .247 hitting percentage compared to Air Force's .155 rate. UNLV towered over the Falcon attackers on the front line, registering 14 total blocks in the match compared to Air Force's six.
 
Isabel Martin led the Rebels with 19 kills, Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos registering 13 and Jordyn Freeman putting together 11. Freeman's final stat line proved to be one of her best of the season, the redshirt senior's kill rate was off of 18 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage. Freeman also posted a season-high in blocks with eight assists in the match, the San Diego, Calif., native now having seven games with six or more total blocks this season. Junior Isha Knight also found her way into a career game, earning 23 digs in the four-set match. Arien Fafard led the Rebels in assists over the course of the match, putting together 39 assists in the team's 55 total kills while also registering 11 digs. 
   
The Falcons had four different student-athletes with double-digit kills, Ella Tsuchor leading the team with 12 kills and 10 digs to pick up a double-double. Caroline Reinkensmeyer posted 41 digs to go along with her seven kills, Jordan Suan leading Air Force with 19 digs of her own. 
 
After Thursday's match, the Rebels are now 48-5 in the all-time head-to-head record against the Falcons.
 
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will continue their travel before heading back to Cox Pavilion next week, now heading to Albuquerque, N.M., for the next match on their schedule. The Rebels will face off against the Lobos in the Johnson Center on Saturday, Oct. 28, the first serve kicking off at 12 p.m. PT.
