LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team (11-6, 3-2 Mountain West) took its second-consecutive loss in conference play on Thursday, falling on a 3-0 final score against New Mexico.
The Lobos (11-5, 3-2) won 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18, holding the Rebels to just a 14.7-percent hitting percentage versus their 33.7-percent rate.
Redshirt senior
Isabel Martin paced the attack for UNLV, leading the team with 10 kills in the contest.
Arien Fafard tallied 21 assists in the game as the team's top passer, Fafard and
Caleigh King both earning double-digit digs in the contest at 13 and 10, respectively. Redshirt freshman
Fatima Sheriff reached at least three total blocks for the third game in the six she's appeared in this season,
Jordyn Freeman also registering a solo block in the game.
UNM's Uxue Guereca topped her team in kills with 13, Giselle Groe registering a season-high in digs with 11 in the contest. The Lobos compiled 12 more kills than the Rebels over the course of the three sets (44-32).
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will look to bounce back on Saturday in Cox Pavilion, hosting Air Force for its second Mountain West game of the week on their home court. The Rebels will face off against the Falcons on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. PT, the match being promoted as the annual 'Military and First Responders Day' game.
