LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's basketball team dominated in its home opener 85-60 over College of Charleston on Friday night at the Cox Pavilion.

The Lady Rebels (2-0) were led by
Alyssa Durazo-Frescas who drained 21 points, was 7-for-14 from the field, 5-for-11 from long range and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Durazo-Frescas was three points shy from tying her career-high she set during her freshman campaign.
Desi-Rae Young earned her 37th career double-double putting up 18 points and bringing down 10 rebounds.
Nneka Obiazor added nine points and was second on the squad tonight in rebounds with seven.

The Cougars (1-1) were led by Alexis Andrews who had 22 points and eight rebounds, while Jada Logan added 15 points.
BIG EARLY RUN: UNLV came out hot right at the tip-off and went on a 9-0 run before College of Charleston got on the board. The Lady Rebels ended the first quarter 26-16 and had a 12-point run in the second quarter to go up by 20 heading into the break, 45-25. UNLV led by as many as 33 points in the third quarter.

STAT OF THE GAME: The Lady Rebels outscored the Cougars in points in the paint (34-22) bench points (29-15) and fast break points (16-1).

DEFENSIVE EFFORT: UNLV held College of Charleston to just nine points (4-for-17 field goals and 1-for-4 three pointers) in the second quarter. The Lady Rebels only allowed the Cougars to shoot 30.9% for the game (21 of 68).

McKinna Brackens and
Macy Spencer made their UNLV debuts. Brackens brought down five rebounds and a steal. Spencer scored five points and was 2-for-4 from the field and drained her first career three-pointer.
- The Lady Rebels forced 18 Cougars' turnovers and collected 16 points off turnovers.
- UNLV recorded nine steals and were led by
Amarachi Kimpson with three.
- UNLV had four different players block shots and did not allow College of Charleston to block a shot.
- UNLV has now scored 80 or more points in home openers for the third consecutive year.
