AUSTIN, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's 200 medley relay team grabbed a top-3 finish in Wednesday's opening day of the Texas Invitational at Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
*Representing the Rebels as their 'A' squad, freshman
Wikus Potgieter (21.93), junior Adnan Bejji (23.60), senior
George Ratiu (20.92) and junior
Bryson Huey (19.01) combined for a season-best time of 1:25.46 in a tied-for-third finish with USC. Huey's anchor leg marked the fastest of the race and helped the Scarlet & Gray drop its time by 2.56 seconds.
*Just four spots behind them, UNLV's 'B' team of senior
McKay Mickelson (22.80), junior Mike Breitbart (24.71), sophomore
Charley Page-Jones (20.73) and senior
Steven Butler (19.51) finished seventh in the 200 medley relay (1:27.75).
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
*Another Scarlet & Gray season-best mark came in the women's 200 medley relay (1:40.64), with its 'A' team of freshman
Dominka Trentkiewicz (25.60), seniors
Calysta Bartlett (28.95) and
Blanka Bokros (24.20) and junior
Pilar Cohen' (22.79) combining for a seventh-place finish. This improved upon their time by 2.65 seconds.
