LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV football sophomore punter Marshall Nichols has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Tuesday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
An Atlanta, Georgia native, Nichols helped guide the Rebels to a 31-27 win over the Air Force Academy Falcons. He punted seven times for a net average of 47.4 yards and dropped three of his attempts inside the Falcons' 20-yard line, including downing one at the six-yard line and one at the two-yard line. Nichols also completed a 10-yard pass for a first down on a fake punt in the second half, which helped the Rebels earn a four-point lead.
