Beji Receives Second WAC Weekly Honor

The Rebel junior posted top-5 finishes in the breaststroke events at the Texas Invitational

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – For the second time this season, UNLV men's swimming junior Adnan Beji was named the WAC Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Originally from Tunis, Tunisia, Beji posted top-5 finishes in the breaststroke events as the Rebels competed at the Texas Invitational against the host No. 13 Longhorns, No. 8 Stanford, No. 16 USC and No. 20 Wisconsin. He set a school record in the 200 breast (1:54.16), while placing fourth with an NCAA 'B' cut. Additionally, he notched a second-place finish in the 100 breast (53.37).

Beji also swam the breaststroke portion in UNLV's third-place finishes with season-best times in the 200 medley relay (1:25.46) and 400 medley relay (3:08.07) in Texas.

The Scarlet & Gray standout breaststroke specialist holds the WAC's top times and ranks inside the top 20 nationally in the 100 breast and 200 breast this season.

UP NEXT: The Rebels will return to action when they host the UNLV Invitational, which is set for Saturday-Tuesday, Dec. 16-19.
