Kaysha Love ’21 Earns Gold In Bobsled At The World Cup

LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – Former UNLV women's track & field standout Kaysha Love '21 made international headlines on Saturday at the World Cup, winning the gold medal in the women's monobob event in her World Cup driving debut event.

Love won the event with a final time of 2:07.92 in Sigulda, Latvia, surpassing the second-place finisher Melanie Hasler from Switzerland by .21 seconds. The event consisted of two heats, the former Rebel was seeded fifth after the first heat and then posted the fastest time in the second.

This weekend's event wasn't the first World Cup for Love, competing as a push athlete on the 2022 World Cup team and qualifying for the 2022 US Olympic team alongside driver Kaillie Humpries. Having won three World Cup titles in the push role, Love's driving debut with a win hopes to move her a step closer in qualifying as a pilot for the 2026 Olympics.

Love helped set several top-ranked times during her UNLV tenure as a collegiate student-athlete, sitting among the Rebels' top-five all-time performers in four different events. Her top finish is the program-record mark in the women's 4x100m relay in the outdoor season, posting a :43.81 time alongside Smith-Barnett, Naj. Hudspeth and Austin in 2017. She also is part of the then third-ranked 4x400m indoor relay, the fourth-fastest 60m indoor performance and the fifth-best 4x400m relay during outdoor.
