LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV football learned it will travel to Oregon State for the first time since 2002 and get a rematch with Boise State at Allegiant Stadium as the Mountain West on Thursday revealed its refreshed conference schedule for next season, which included the addition of the unique plus-one scheduling agreement with the two remaining Pac-12 Conference schools.
Wiith all dates still to be determined, UNLV will host Boise State, UNR, Fresno State and San Diego State and travel to Hawai'i, San Jose State, Utah State and Oregon State. The game against the Beavers will not count in the league standings. The Rebels are 3-2 all-time vs. OSU but the Beavers took both ends of the most recent home-and-home series, in 2002 in Corvallis and in 2009 at Sam Boyd Stadium.
The OSU game replaces what would have been a trip to play Wyoming next season while USU changed from a home game to an away contest and Boise State will come to Las Vegas instead of hosting UNLV. The Rebels and Broncos battled in the Mountain West Championship Game at Allegiant Stadium on December 2.
UNLV's non-conference schedule for 2024, which includes four games, is still tentative.
According to the conference release, this new league slate features a total of 42 games and 12 non-conference matchups against Oregon State and Washington State. As previously announced, the games against the Beavers and Cougars are part of a scheduling agreement for the 2024 football season. The schedule will play out over 14 weeks, concluding on December 7 with the Mountain West Championship Game featuring the two MW teams with the highest Conference winning percentage.
The 2024 schedule follows a 7+1 model, whereby each MW program will play seven league opponents, and face either Oregon State or Washington State, with an even split of four home games and four away games among the eight contests. Working off the previous three-year schedule rotation (2023-2025), matchups were rebalanced utilizing the same principles to minimize the impact on the original 2024 schedule.
The Rebels (9-4) will conclude their 2023 schedule by playing Kansas in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix on December 26. Ticket information is available at UNLVTickets.com.
