LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Sophomore
Erika Carlson set a program record in the women's 500 free to lead the way for three event victories by UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving Sunday in the UNLV Invitational at Jim Reitz Pool.
During the second day competition, the Rebels also had multiple swimmers reach the top final in every event en route to 20 top-8 individual finishes.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
*Carlson's 500 free first-place time of 4:46.53 topped the previous 12-year-old top mark, which was held by former Rebel Jessica Heim, by 14-hundredths of a second. The new Scarlet & Gray standard in the event gave her an NCAA 'B' cut.
*Finishing among the top 8 in the 500 free alongside Carlson, freshman
Ava Olson (4:51.13), sophomore
Hannah Jones (4:52.54) and junior
Gina Miller (4:53.69) followed the Rebel leader in third, fourth and seventh, respectively. Olson's time moved her into the all-time top 10 at UNLV.
*The 'B' final of the 500 free saw sophomores
Ashley Hughes and
Marta Klimek take the top spots. Hughes (
4:57.60) came away with the heat win in a ninth-place overall finish and Klimek (4:57.72) followed with a 10th-place finish.
*As part of three top-8 Rebel finishes in the 200 IM 'A' final, senior
Ruby Howell (2:00.91) reached the wall in second place. The trio was rounded out by Howell's senior counterparts'
Blanka Bokros (2:02.61) fourth-place finish and
Madison Petschauer's (2:05.24) eighth-place finish.
*Freshman Victoria Villareal (2:05.99) provided another heat win in the 'C' final of the 200 IM.
*Another three top-8 finishes for the Rebels came in the 50 free as senior
Calysta Bartlett (23.46) tied for second. Shortly after, sophomore
Averi Webb (23.57) touched in sixth and junior
Bridget Sullivan (23.81) in eighth.
*Sophomore
Kyra Tonsil (24.09) claimed a 50 free heat win in the 'D' final.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
*In the 50 free, senior
George Ratiu finished first with an NCAA 'B' cut and his season-best time of 19.79 seconds. Tacking on two more top-8 finishes in the 50 free were senior
Steven Butler's (20.53) seventh-place finish and junior
Bryson Huey's (20.73) eighth-place finish tacked
*Sophomore
Andrew Navarro's second-place finish in the 500 free led the Rebel men. Adding top-8 finishes beside him were freshman
Hayden Lambert (4:29.14) in fourth and senior Cam Castro in seventh (4:36.27).
*Imitating Hughes, redshirt freshman
Colby Raffel (4:30.76) provided a 'B' heat win in the 500 free.
*In a breakout 200 IM performance, senior
Cooper Kiel swam a 1:47.51 to place third with the sixth fastest time in program history. Collecting another pair of top-8 finishes in the event were junior Mike Breitbart (1:49.55) in fifth and freshman
Wyatt Miner (1:51.20) in seventh.

Lucas Esenwein (20.17) won his 50 free 'B' final, taking ninth place overall.
*The Rebels also claimed an event victory in the 200 free relay (1:18.76) behind the efforts of Huey, Ratiu, Butler and Castro.
