LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's basketball team opened Mountain West play in the win column after defeating Utah State 107-68 on Saturday afternoon at Cox Pavilion. The Lady Rebels have not lost in a conference opener under head coach

Desi-Rae Young led the Lady Rebels (11-1, 1-0) with 31 points, only one-shy of her career-high. Young shot 11-for-17 from the field, was 1-for-2 from behind the arc and 8-for-9 at the free throw line. Young added nine rebounds and had four assists.
Jasmyn Lott put up a career-high 14 points and shot 4-for-5 from the field and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line.
Kiara Jackson led the squad in assists with nine, which tied her career-high and the second time this season she has dished nine assists.

The Aggies (3-9, 0-1) were led by Cheyenne Stubbs who scored 30 points and had six rebounds.
SCORING RUNS: The Lady Rebels came out firing and went on a 16-4 run to take an early lead in the first quarter. As the quarter came to a close UNLV scored six-straight points to hold a 28-12 lead after the first 10 minutes. In the second quarter, the Lady Rebels had 10 consecutive points to tack onto their double-digit lead, 40-16. With less than two minutes to play before the half, Young went on a 10-1 run of her own to give the Lady Rebels a 58-33 lead going into the break. The Lady Rebels and Aggies went back-and-for on short scoring runs in the third quarter, but three straight free throws for UNLV gave them a 27-point lead going into the final frame, 82-55. UNLV had 15 straight points to start the fourth-quarter and never looked back.

DEFENSIVE EFFORT: UNLV held Utah State to just 12 points (4-for-11 field goals and 1-for-3 three-pointers) in the first quarter and only allowed 13 points in the fourth quarter (4-for-16 field goals and 3-for-8 three-pointers).

OTHER NOTES
- Amarachi Kimpson scored a career-high 12 points by shooting 4-for-5 from the field and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the line.
- UNLV out-rebounded Utah State 33-30.
- The Lady Rebels forced 21 Aggies' turnovers and collected 41 points off them.
- UNLV has not lost a conference home-opener since the 2019-20 season. (Dec. 3, 2019 vs. Fresno State, 66-72).
- The last time the Lady Rebels scored 100 points in a conference game was during the 2021-22 season against San Jose State on Feb. 19, 2022 (104-63).
- The largest lead UNLV had was 42-points (97-55).
- This is the second time this season the Lady Rebels have scored 100 or more points.
