LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV earned a dozen spots on the all-conference teams announced by Mountain West Wire while also grabbing three major year-end awards after the 2023 regular season.
Barry Odom was named the league's Coach of the Year, kicker
Jose Pizano was Special Teams Player of the Year, and quarterback
Jayden Maiava was tabbed Freshman of the Year. All three won those same awards from the official conference honors list released a week ago.
The Rebels earned six positions on the MW Wire First Team: wide receiver
Ricky White III, linebacker
Jackson Woodard, safety
Cameron Oliver, kicker Pizano, punt returner
Jacob De Jesus and then De Jesus again at kickoff returner.
The second team saw Maiava at quarterback and sophomore
Marshall Nichols earn the punter position.
On the third team, true freshman running back
Jai'Den "Jet" Thomas was included along with offensive tackle
Tiger Shanks.
The MW Fourth Team featured center
Jack Hasz and linebacker
Fred Thompkins.
