Rebels Grab Seven Personal Bests Day One Of Don Kirby Elite Invite

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field team grabbed seven personal bests during day one of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational Friday afternoon at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The Scarlet & Gray are competing against every Mountain West team, with the exception of Hawai'i, as well as Pac-12's Arizona, Cal, UCLA, Oregon and Washington State and a handful of other teams from the ACC, SEC and the Big Ten.

ON THE TRACK
Sophomore distance standout Natalia Ruiz took second in the women's 3000m run with a career best time of 10:09.48, almost two seconds faster than her personal record set two weeks ago at the UNM Team Open (10:11.33).

Junior Jaida Lyles led the Rebels in the women's unseeded 3000m, finishing seventh with a season best time of 10:54. Senior LaKyla Yazzie followed behind in eighth (11:07.42) and freshman Nicole Boskovich finished in 11th with a personal best of 12:01.47.

Senior Alia Scott ran a personal best in the women's unseeded 400m dash, placing 10th with a time of 56.30, followed by freshman Jana Lakner in 11th with a personal best of 56.50.

Sophomore Kennedi Porter ran a personal best in the women's 200m with a time of 24.09, followed by sophomore AnnaKay Maitland with a time of 24.65.

ON THE FIELD
Sophomore Erin Thompson finished 12th overall in the women's high jump with a career best mark of 1.67m (05-05.75).
