Lakner Leads Rebels At NAU Tune Up

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program closed out the regular season at the NAU Tune Up hosted by Northern Arizona University at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome Friday afternoon.

The Scarlet & Gray raced against teams from across California and Arizona, the Rebels were the lone Mountain West representatives.

ON THE TRACK
Freshman Jana Lakner secured the women's 400m dash title with a career best time of 56.24, junior Endya Scott followed in fourth with a personal best of 57.59.

Junior Taylor Shorter took third in the women's 60m hurdle finals with a time of 8.80, only 0.04 seconds from second place (8.76).

Sophomore Shakeria Bowra placed fourth in the women's 60m dash finals with a career best finish of 7.59, only 0.006 seconds separated her from third place. Sophomore Aja Melo-Powell took eighth with a time of 7.82.

Freshman Abigail Danlag ran a personal best in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:33.12.

ON THE FIELD
Graduate student Aaliyah Graves kicked the meet off strong for the Rebels with seventh place finish in the women's long jump with a season best mark of 5.19m (17-00.50). Freshman Camryn Harris finished with a mark of 5.00m (16-05.00), followed by junior Julia Nixon with a 4.97m (16-03.75).

Graves and Harris both had career bests in the women's triple jump with a mark of 10.90m (35-09.25) and 10.82m (35-06.00), respectively.

Sophomore Madelynn Wattles took sixth in the women's weight throw with a career best mark of 15.02m (49-03.50).

NEXT TIME OUT: The Rebels will return to the Albuquerque Convention Center for the 2023 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships held February 23-25.
