TEMPE, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team faced its first ranked opponent of the season Saturday evening and sent a trio of matches to a third set before falling 4-0 to No. 32 Arizona State in the second round of the ASU 8-Team Spring Invitational at the Kiwanis Tennis Center.
The Rebels dropped to 7-4 overall while the Sun Devils improved to 7-2.
ASU took a 1-0 lead by grabbing wins on the first two completed doubles matches.
In singles,
Maxim Verboven saw his match at the top of the lineup halted in the third set while
Dusan Rsovac was also in a dog fight that was not completed down at court five. The Sun Devils took a pair of straight-setters and then ended things with a three-set victory at the fourth spot.
UP NEXT: UNLV will close out its stay in Arizona with a consolation match vs. in-state rival UNR.
