LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV track and field freshman Rosa Santana has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Saturday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
Santana, a Dominican Republic native, claimed the women's shot put title at the UNM Team Open on February 11. She recorded a mark of 17.53m (57-06.25), shattering the UNLV program record of 54-04.00 previously set in 2000 and the national record for the Dominican Republic.
