Alarcon Named Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel Of The Week

The Rebel senior led UNLV to a 2-1 weekend, including wins over UC Irvine and Montana State

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV volleyball senior Alondra Alarcon has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Tuesday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

A native of Lima, Peru, Alarcon was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week after guiding the Rebels to a 2-1 week on the road. Over the three matches, she collected 38 kills (3.8 k/set), 23 digs (2.3 d/set), hit .250 overall and averaged 4.45 points per set.

In a sweep over Montana State Alarcon collected 14 kills and hit a .636 clip, along with nine digs, two service aces and 16 points. In a win over UC Irvine, she tallied nine kills on .350 hitting and added five digs to help UNLV secure another sweep.

Alarcon capped her weekend with a team-leading 15 kills, nine digs and three block assists against Oregon State.
