LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — UNLV dropped two games in Friday's action at the Seattle U Invitational.
UNLV fell to Montana 2-1 in the afternoon before being held off by Seattle U 6-4 in the nightcap at Logan Field.
The Rebels have rematches with both teams to close tournament action. Saturday, UNLV and Montana play at 1 p.m. PT before the Rebels take on Seattle U on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Game One: Montana 2, UNLV 1
Montana rallied for a 2-1 victory over UNLV in the first game of the Seattle U Invitational at Logan Field in Seattle, Washington, Friday afternoon.
The Rebels fought off the Grizzlies' offense until the top of the sixth when Kendall Curtis batted in two runs off
Alanna Thiede with a single to right field.
UNLV starter
Ellie Zellien escaped a bases-loaded first by throwing three strikeouts. The Rebels then scored the game's first run when
Ariana Martinez singled to bring home
Sofia Morales.
But UNLV would struggle on offense thereafter, finding just four more baserunners through the final six innings.
Game Two: Seattle 6, UNLV 4
UNLV scored first but struggled to move baserunners before a rally came up short in a 6-4 loss to Seattle U Friday night.
Kelsie Kelso drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Rebel on the board in the top of the first inning. However, Seattle U would score four unanswered led by a two-run home run from Jocelynn De La Cruz in the second.
All six of the Redhawks runs crossed the plate with two outs.Â
UNLV's
Denise Armendariz homered in the third inning and Arianna Martinez hit a two-RBI double in the sixth. The Rebels stranded 11 baserunners.
