LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team snapped a four-match losing streak by downing Grand Canyon, 4-1, Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 8-7 while the Lopes fell to 4-9.
GCU took a 1-0 lead by winning both completed doubles matches.
The hosts had a much better time in singles, however, taking four straight-setters to clinch it.
Maxim Verboven downed Jonathan Da Silva, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1;
Anton Ornberg defeated Martim Marujo, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 2;
Aaron Bailey got by Alfred Almasi, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3; and
Dusan Rsovac finished up, 6-3, 7-5, on court six.
UP NEXT: UNLV will open Mountain West play by hosting Boise State next Friday starting with doubles play at 4 p.m. PT. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
