Santana Leads Rebels Day One Of Triton Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV track & field program kicked off day one of the Triton Invitational with a hot start on the field from sophomore Rosa Santana. The two-day meet is being contested at Triton Track and Field Stadium on the campus of UC San Diego.

The Rebels are competing against Mountain West foe San Diego State, Pac-12's Oregon and Washington, Big Ten's Indiana and Wisconsin, as well as other universities in the Big West Conference and additional Southern California universities.

ON THE FIELD
- Senior Cassidy Osborne-Butler started things off for the Rebels with a fourth-place finish in the women's invitational hammer throw with a mark of 53.14m (174-04.00).
- Santana took third in the women's invitational discus throw with a career-best mark of 48.37m (158-08.00), making that the second best mark in program history. Sophomore Roxene Simpson placed sixth with a personal-best mark of 42.62m (139-10.00) and sophomore Kimone Reid followed in 12th with a mark of 40.55m (133-00.00).

UP NEXT: The Rebels will close out the Triton Invitational Saturday morning at 10 a.m. beginning with the women's invitational javelin throw on the field and the women's 400m relay on the track.
