SACRAMENTO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Rosa Santana highlighted the track & field team's performance on day two of the NCAA West Preliminary in the Golden State's capital city. Santana qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time in her collegiate career after finishing sixth overall in the women's shot put event Thursday evening at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium.
The Dominican Republic native punched her ticket for Austin, Texas, and the chance to compete for a national championship in shot put in two weeks (June 7-10) after finishing sixth with a mark of 18.03m (59-02.00).
The Rebels were also represented by graduate student Cassidy Osborne-Butler in shot put. Senior Alia Scott also wrapped up her 2023 campaign finishing 38th in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.29, just 0.02 seconds away from New Mexico's Annamaria Leszczynska (1:00.27).
UP NEXT: Santana will begin her quest for a championship title on Thursday, June 8 in Austin, Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
