Rebel Quartet Named WGCA All-American Scholars

Veronica Joels, McKenzi Hall, Toa Yokoyama and Thienna Huynh all earn the prestigious recognition

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (UNLVRebels.com) – Four UNLV women's golf student-athletes were named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, the organization announced Thursday.

Veronica Joels, who graduated with her master's degree in hotel administration, rising juniors Toa Yokoyama, a human services major, and McKenzi Hall, a pre-business major, and rising sophomore Thienna Huynh, a pre-business major, were among the 1,401 women's collegiate golfers around the country to receive the recognition.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 during the 2022-23 academic year.

Joels led the Scarlet & Gray with her fourth honor, while Yokoyama and Hall made the list for the second consecutive year. Huynh was recognized for the first time.

The Rebel quartet makes up the squad's highest number of selections since the 2010-11 season. This also marks the fifth straight year UNLV has placed at least three student-athletes on the list.
