RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – A pair of individual even-par rounds placed the UNLV women's golf team just one shot off the lead after Tuesday's opening round of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club (Par 72, 6,286 yards).
REBEL ROUNDUP: Helping the Rebels (+4) end the day in a tie for third were junior
Zi Yu Foong, who went bogey-free on the back nine, and freshman
Lana Yamagata with their even-par 72 efforts. The duo sits in a tie for sixth in the individual standings.
The Scarlet & Gray lineup also saw three others jump into the top 20, including sophomore
Amber Chen (+1) in a tie for 12th, as well as
Jane Huang (+3) and freshman
Demi Du (+3) in a tie for 20th.
DAY-ONE LEADERBOARD: San Jose State and Colorado State share the lead at 3-over through 18 holes. Sharing the individual lead are CSU's Kara Kaneshiro and Grand Canyon's Alexis Vakasiuola at 4-under 68.
