Rebels Wrap Non-Conference Play At Tulsa

UPDATE: UNLV faces Golden Hurricane Saturday at 3 p.m. PT

UPDATE: Due to potential inclement weather in Tulsa late Saturday, kickoff has moved up to 3 p.m. PT (5 p.m. local time).

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — The Rebels look to capture their first road win in two seasons when they visit Tulsa on Saturday night.

UNLV (1-4-2) and Tulsa (3-2-2) kick off at 5 p.m. PT at Hurricane Stadium. Though currently unranked, Tulsa was a preseason top-25 team and hasn't been beaten since Sept. 1 but the Rebels have history on their side. UNLV has won three consecutive matchups against TU, including its last meeting in Tulsa in 2018. UNLV leads the all-time series 4-3.

A livestream of the game will be available at TulsaHurricane.com.

Goal Oriented

Though dispatching one of the nation's youngest starting 11, UNLV has displayed an improved offense. The Rebels scored five goals in their first five games, compared to just one in its first five games of 2022. Nine freshmen have made at least one start this season.

Corner Market

UNLV's offensive efficiency has taken a drastic leap forward in year two of BJ Craig's tenure. The 2023 Rebels have a 49 percent shot-on-goal accuracy compared to 39 percent last season. This year's squad has also converted two of its 17 corner kicks into goals after going scoreless on 61 corner opportunities one year ago.

First Timers

Seniors Brophy Howard and Theo Minard, both in their second seasons with UNLV, and freshmen Kai Merrill and Hermann Ragnarsson have scored their first career goals this season.
