COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV duo of Anton Ornberg and Jackson Atherton brought home the doubles crown to cap the squad's stay at this weekend's ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains, which is hosted annually at the Air Force Academy.
 
Competing in the singles and doubles individual events at the USAFA Outdoor Courts, six Rebels faced competitors from nine other schools in the mountain region.
 
Ornberg and Atherton survived four rounds over Friday and Saturday and then automatically won the title when the other finalists out of BYU withdrew from Sunday competition per school policy.
 
"Anton and Jackson winning the doubles at the Bedford Cup is exciting for us," said head coach Andy Jackson. "We were very competitive in singles play over the weekend as well. Anton losing 7-5 in the third set to the eventual singles champion was an example of a lot of close matches that we lost here. Now we look forward to next week's ITA Regional and All-American events."
