WESTWOOD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men's and women's diving added four more top-18 finishes in Sunday's final day of the Bruin Diving Invitational, which is being hosted by No. 25 UCLA at Spieker Aquatics Center.
Over the weekend, the Rebels compiled six top-10 finishes and 12 top-18 finishes.
Also competing at the stacked meet were divers from USC's No. 4 women's and No. 15 men's teams, Stanford's No. 8 men's and No. 10 women's squads, Wisconsin's No. 13 women's and No. 22 men's teams, Minnesota's No. 22 women's and the Gopher men's teams. Along with their ranked opponents, the Scarlet & Gray squared off against California Baptist, BYU, Fresno State, Hawai'i, Northern Arizona, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Jose State and Utah.
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
*Posting his team-best third top-10 finish of his Rebel debut, freshman Alejandro Vazquez secured a 10th-place score on the 1-meter springboard (612.35) after tallying an NCAA Zone qualifying score in the finals (334.25). Vazquez's strong finale followed his eight-place finish (599.35) in the 3-meter competition and ninth-place finish on platform (562.30) with an NCAA Zone mark in prelims (306.35).
*With his scores, Vazquez moved into the UNLV all-time record list as the new leader in the 1-meter event and fourth on platform.
*Junior
Dima Tereshchenko launched his way to a 13th-place finish on the 1-meter springboard with an overall 595.40. His day included an NCAA Zone qualifying and his season-high round for the event (303.55) in prelims.
*Rounding out the 1-meter finalist scores, senior
Jamie Spilchak dove to an overall 525.30 to take 18th. He improved upon his prelims score with his season-best 1-meter round of 263.80 in the finals.
*Freshman
Ronan Robinson scored a 21st-place 230.75 on the 1-meter springboard. Robinson coupled that with a 17th-place mark on platform (221.85) and 25th place in the 3-meter event (206.30).
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
*For the third straight day, senior
Vika Yanovska led the Scarlet & Gray women with a 17th-place platform score (200.00) during prelims.
*Freshman
Chelsey Dorosh ended her meet with a 25th-place score on platform to go along with her 29th-place 3-meter (234.30) and 33rd-place 1-meter (219.05) scores.
*Wrapping up her three-day outing, junior
Jenna Walch finished 38th on platform (163.20). She also placed 48th in the 3-meter competition (210.10) and 57th on the 1-meter springboard (184.65).
*Representing the Rebels in her home state, freshman
Chloe Bohuslavizki placed 62nd on the 1-meter springboard.
*Junior
Samantha Nguyen competed in the 3-meter (156.45) and 1-meter competitions, taking 56th and 63rd (136.95), respectively.
