LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's basketball fifth-year senior Kalib Boone has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
A Tulsa, Oklahoma native, Boone helped guide the Runnin' Rebels to a 1-1 week, including a win over the New Mexico Lobos and a near upset of No. 25 Utah State Aggies. He averaged 23.5 points, shooting over 60 percent from the field and 86.7 percent from the charity stripe, five rebounds and 2.5 steals.
Against the Lobos, Boone finished with a career-high 29 points after going 11 of 16 from the field and 7 of 8 from the free-throw line. He scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds and a season-high four steals in a one-point loss against the Aggies.
