LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV football junior Jai'Den "Jet" Thomas has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.
Thomas has earned the recognition for the second time this season, while it's also the football team's sixth of the year.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas led the Rebels to a dominant 42-17 victory over UNR to retain the fabled Fremont Cannon. He rushed for 103 yards and four touchdowns on just 11 carries and added three receptions for 24 more yards. In the first half, he produced two touchdown runs, racking up 87 yards on six carries. During the second half, he added another two scores.
Thomas became the second Rebel in history to rush for four touchdowns in two games in a career. Additionally, he has 31 career rushing touchdowns, which ranks fifth in program history.
