LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team bounced back from its first loss of the season to blank New Mexico State Sunday morning at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 3-1 while the Aggies fell to 2-3.
The hosts won the first two completed doubles matches to earn a 1-0 lead.
Taiyo Hirano and
Illia Maksymchuk defeated Itay Feigin and Luca Fe D'Ostiani, 6-2, and
Joseph Chen and
Aaron Bailey rolled past Patrick Lohmann and Ricardo Mercado, 6-0.
In singles, the bottom half of the lineup all won in straight sets to clinch it. Maksymchuk downed Luca Fe D'Ostiani, 6-3, 6-3;
Martin Jovenin defeated Lohmann, 6-2, 6-0; and Hirano sprinted past Mercado, 6-1, 6-0.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Illia Maksymchuk went 2-0 on the day, winning at No. 2 doubles and No. 4 singles.
