Volleyball Falls To Bulldogs On The Road

LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team kicked off another weekend of conference play on the road on Thursday evening, traveling west to Fresno State for their first of two matches in California.
 
The Rebels (9-7, 2-3 MW) ran extras on the Bulldogs (7-9, 3-2) in two of the four sets in the Save Mart Center, posting a final line of 25-21, 26-28, 32-30 and 25-18. The Scarlet & Gray's offense produced 61 kills with a .236 hitting percentage, Fresno State notching 55 kills and a attacking percentage of .220 on the night.
 
UNLV's offense featured three student-athletes with double-digit kills, Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos ending the evening with a team-leading 14 kills. Her alongside Chloe Thomas and Basia Latos would each hit over .200 during the match, each hitting 13 kills. Jada Ingram posted the highest hitting percentage out of the lineup, earning seven kills for UNLV in the match on a .375 rate. 
   
Thomas would top the roster in points during the match, totaling 16 next to Latos' and Arretche-Ramos' 15.5. The senior registered a career-high mark in solo blocks on Thursday night, Thomas collecting three for a team-lead and her first time gaining a trio. The Rebels tallied 10 blocks overall in the match, eight of them being solo. The eight the program earned against Fresno marked not only a season-high, but the highest mark in a single match since their 11 against Colgate during the 2021 season. Latos and Rheanna Deen-Jackson each found a pair of solo blocks in the match, Arretche-Ramos owning the eighth and final one.
 
Latos found the second double-double of her young career, collecting 10 digs on the night out of the team's 77. That marked tied the program's season-high, Caleigh King leading the charge with 18 in her statline. Two other Rebels earned double-digit dig totals, Dakota Quinlan (12) Olivia Mikkelsen (11) collecting Fresno State's attacks. Mikkelsen also topped the roster in set assists on the night, dishing 26 to the Rebel hitters.
