LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team kicked off another weekend of conference play on Thursday night, hosting Wyoming in Cox Pavilion for Mental Health Awareness Night.
The Rebels (10-8, 3-4 MW) fell to the Cowgirls (11-6, 3-3) in three sets in the match, the final line being 25-16, 25-20, 25-16. Wyoming hit over .300 in all three sets with a final average of .341, the Scarlet & Gray posting an attacking percentage of .146.
Basia Latos led the offense for the Rebels, earning a team-high nine kills against the Cowgirl defense.
Chloe Thomas held the highest hitting percentage of any Rebel in the match, holding a .364 rate on her way to eight kills. The Rebels also had
Jada Ingram with six kills and
Alondra Alarcon with five. The setting was primarily done by
Arien Fafard, tossing 14 of the Rebels' 32 set assists with
Olivia Mikkelsen behind her at 11.
Mikkelsen topped the UNLV lineup in digs during the match, the graduate student collecting nine for her second time in three matches with at least nine in a single match.
Caleigh King followed closely with seven digs of her own in the three-set match,
Dakota Quinlan totaling five. The Rebel frontline totaled eight block assists overall in the match, a trio of members of the lineup garnering a pair on the night (Thomas,
Jada Ingram and
Rheanna Deen-Jackson).
The Rebels totaled a pair of service aces in the match as well, King recording her third-straight match with at least one service ace, notching one in the match. UNLV's second service ace stemmed from Mikkelsen.
