LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team hosted the Colorado State Rams on Saturday afternoon for a Saturday-afternoon showdown in Cox Pavilion, dueling the match as their Dig For A Cure day.
The Rams (10-8, 6-2 MW) took down the Scarlet & Gray (10-9, 3-5) on a 3-0 final score, the line being 25-23, 25-18 and 25-19. The Rebels held a .183 attacking rate for the match compared to CSU's .317, both teams hitting over .400 in the second set.
Basia Latos led the charge for the UNLV offense on Saturday, collecting a team-high 14 kills on a .273 attacking percentage. The highest rate (minimum 10 attacks) was owned by
Chloe Thomas and
Jada Ingram at .300, the senior outside hitter finding eight kills in the contest.
Arien Fafard was the main facilitator for the Rebel offense, registering 16 assists of the team's 32 in the match,
Olivia Mikkelsen behind her at 12 on the day.
The defensive charge was headed by
Kody Wengler and Latos in the back line, the freshman duo totaling 15 of the team's 35 digs. Latos topped the roster with eight, Wengler registering a new career-high mark with seven overall in the three-set match.
Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos and Mikkelsen each found over five digs (six and five, respectively), the front line collecting 14 block assists on the day.
Rheanna Deen-Jackson totaled the most of the lineup with five of her own, Arretche-Ramos being the only other student-athlete with three or more.
Jada Ingram and Thomas both finished the match with two assists each.
The Rebels found five service aces on the day, the second time in the last three matches the program has had five or more in a single match. A career-high was notched in the statistical category for Latos, the freshman picking up her first career three-ace match against the Rams.
Caleigh King and
Rheanna Deen-Jackson each registered one as well.

UNLV will play a split week between home and on the road, first traveling out to San Diego State for their Tuesday Night Block Party match against the Aztecs. The match is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. PT before returning home to host Boise State for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 26.
