LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team celebrated Homecoming weekend in Cox Pavilion with a match on Saturday afternoon, hosting Boise State. The match featured a new Rebel career milestone on the day, senior
Chloe Thomas registering her 1,000th career point in the match.
The Rebels (10-11, 3-7 MW) took a hot start in the first set, but eventually fell to the Broncos (14-7, 6-3) on a final score of 3-1. The final line ran 19-25, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-20, Boise State hitting .242 in the match compared to UNLV's .201.
Thomas led the Scarlet & Gray roster with 14 points in the match, consisting of 13 kills and a pair of block assists. The Rebels had two other student-athletes with double-digit kills in the contest,
Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos holding 12 and
Jordyn Freeman reaching 10. Freeman and Thomas had the most efficient swings for the UNLV roster, the former topping the roster with a .474 attacking percentage and the latter holding a .440 mark in the match.
Arien Fafard set the pace for the offense with a team-high 22 assists.
The Rebels totaled 14 blocks on Saturday afternoon, Freeman and
Dakota Quinlan each collecting a solo block in the contest. The graduate student middle blocker picked up a team-high three block assists in the match, a pair being credited to Thomas,
Basia Latos and
Jada Ingram. Three members of the roster picked up double-digit digs in the four-set match, freshman libero
Kody Wengler picking up a career-high 19 on the day after setting a career high in their last match against San Diego State.
Arien Fafard tied her career-high in the statistical category with 16,
Olivia Mikkelsen rounding out the team total with 11 to her name.
UNLV held a trio of service aces in the match, three members of the roster notching one to their statline. The student-athletes collecting the mark were Quinlan,
Alondra Alarcon and
Rheanna Deen-Jackson.

The Scarlet & Gray will look to bounce back as they hit the road next week, traveling out to Colorado State to face off against the Rams in Fort Collins, Colo.
