Volleyball Caps Weekend In Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. – After battling Colorado State earlier in the weekend, the UNLV volleyball team took on their final match of the weekend on Saturday afternoon in a battle against Wyoming. 
 
The Rebels (10-13, 3-9 MW) fell to the Cowgirls (14-8, 6-5) in a three-set match, the final line being 25-20, 25-29, 25-16 in favor of Wyoming. The Scarlet & Gray's offense held the lead in a majority of the first set with a .241 hitting rate, but fell in the late stages of the contest with a final mark of .115.
 
Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos stood as the only Rebel on the roster with double-digit kills, totaling 10 on the day in 30 attempts. Senior teammate Chloe Thomas stood right behind her in the final results with nine kills of her own on a .238 mark, Jordyn Freeman collecting four. Arien Fafard topped the set assists list with 19 for the Rebels, Olivia Mikkelsen picking up six of her own.
 
The defense did combine for four solo blocks in the match, Alondra Alarcon picking up a new career-high on a pair of solos. Thomas topped the totals of blocks for the team's front line, picking up five block assists. Freeman and Arretche-Ramos both tallied a solo block in the match, Freeman finding four blocks overall with her three assists. 
 
UNLV totaled 48 digs in the match, Arretche-Ramos and Caleigh King each collecting nine digs in the match to top the roster in the statistical category. Arien Fafard carried seven digs of her own, rounding out the top four spots was Alondra Alarcon with six. Alarcon recorded the team's lone service ace in the match.

The Rebels will return to Las Vegas for the home stretch of the 2024 season, hosting San Jose State first in Cox pavilion on Thursday, Nov. 7.
