Rebels Sweep Falcons To Kick Off Weekend

LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – After honoring the UNLV volleyball team's newest 1,000-club members with Gabrielle Arrecthe-Ramos' kills and Chloe Thomas' points, the Rebels battled the Air Force Falcons in Cox Pavilion on Thursday night. The Scarlet & Gray aimed for revenge on the Falcons after falling to them on a score of 3-1 back in September.

The Rebels (14-14, 7-10 MW) would do just that, sweeping Air Force (3-25, 2-15) on a final 3-0 score. UNLV hit over .300 in the match for the fifth time this season, their .331 mark outpacing Air Force's .244 rate on a line of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-21.

The Scarlet & Gray picked up four student-atheltes with double-digit kills, totaling 55 in the three-set match. Basia Latos led all attackers with 13 kills in the contest, producing her third double-double of the season alongside her 10 digs. Alondra Alarcon tied her career-high with 12 kills of her own, Thomas (11) and Jada Ingram (10) following closely behind her to round out the double-figures. Ingram's efficiency topped any hitter in the match, her 10 kills on 16 total attacks led to a .563 efficiency.

Latos wouldn't be the only Rebel to mark double-digit digs; sophomore libero Caleigh King registering 14 to head the lineup's backline. King's 14 would set a new season-high total in a three-set match, eclipsing her 13 she totaled in the win over Pacific. A trio of UNLV athletes reached five digs in the contest, consisting of Arien Fafard, Arretche-Ramos and Kody Wengler.

Fafard's serve continued to roll in the match, notching her second contest of three or more aces in the last three games. Thursday night marked her fourth time this season with a trio, King, Arretche-Ramos and Alarcon also each being credited with an ace.

Ingram led all blockers in the contest with a pair of block assists, Latos and Arretche-Ramos each finding one on the defense. Fafard topped the assist totals with 21 for the Rebels, Olivia Mikkelsen tallying 14. Senior Kennedy Peery notched her first career set assist upon entering the match's second set, dishing a pass to Arretche-Ramos for the kill.
