LOS ANGELES (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's and women's diving teams closed out Friday's opening day of USC's Trojan Diving Invitational at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- In the 1-meter springboard, senior Vika Yanovska led the Scarlet & Gray women in a sixth-place finish with a combined finals (243.35) and prelims (235.65) score of 479.00.
- Following closely behind was freshman Wylde Chupich with an eighth-place score of 437.70, while her freshman counterpart Allyse Abbott had a strong performance placing 12th (426.35).
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Sophomore Alex Vazquez (682.00) led the Rebels men's squad with a fifth-place finish in the 3-meter competition after scoring a 357.70 in the finals.
- Also showing strong contributions were senior Dima Tereshchenko posting a seventh-place score of 633.90 and sophomore Ronan Robinson placing 10th (492.90).
UP NEXT: The diving competition will continue Saturday with the men's platform and women's 3-meter competitions.
