ROME, Ga. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV's top men's tennis player dropped a hard-fought three-setter in Thursday's opening round of the 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championships, taking place at the Rome Tennis Center.
Illia Maksymchuk, who earned his spot in the elite singles field by winning the Mountain West Qualifier last month, was downed, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5, by Alabama State's Alexandre Verlaguet.
The Rebel sophomore from Ukraine will now look to rebound in Friday's consolation round.
